Brief Profile of Dr. Meen Bahadur Poudyal Chhetri

Dr. Meen Bahadur Poudyal Chhetri is a former Government employee having experience of more than 34 years serving across various Government and allied bodies. He holds a PhD degree from the University of Vienna, Austria in Economics and Post Doctorate in Disaster Management Policy from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. He is a founding member and Past President of Nepal Centre for Disaster Management. He is the Chairman of The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS)’s Paper Review Committee. Dr. Chhetri is the Adjunct Professor at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. He was appointed as the Endeavor Ambassador from the Australian High Commission, New Delhi in February 2018. He was also on faculty at the Department of Conflict, Peace and Development Studies, Tribhuvan University Nepal and the Institute of Crisis Management Studies (Tribhuvan University affiliated Master’s Degree Program in Crisis Management).
Dr. Chhetri was awarded AEI Australia Alumni Excellence Awards 2014, by the Government of Australia. He also got QUT Impact Stories Award in 2017 & 2018 from the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. He was awarded “DPNet-Nepal Award 2014” by the Government of Nepal in recognition to his significant contribution in the field of DRR. He was awarded with the cash prize and appreciation letter from the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in January 2008. He is decorated with various Medals such as: Prabal Gorkha Dakshin Bahu 1998; Mahendra Vidhya Bhusan Padak 1996; Janpad Sewa Padak 1991; Gaddi Arohan Rajat Padak 2001; Daibi Prakopoddhar Padak 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001; Dirgha Sewa Padak 2001and many others.
Dr. Chhetri has carried out various consultancy services related to Training Facilitation, Project Evaluation, Project Proposal Development, Strategy, Guidelines, Toolkits, Training Manuals etc. He has authored two books and published a number of research articles in national and international journals.
